Bill 168

On June 15, 2010, Bill 168, which amended the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) to deal with workplace violence and harassment, came into force.

Now, the law requires every workplace in Ontario with more than 5 employees to
  • develop written policies on dealing with both violence and harassment in the workplace
  • develop programs to implement these policies
  • review those policies at least once a year, and
  • conduct training on these policies

HR Proactive, Inc. is proud to announce the additions of David Griffin and Graham Chevreau to its roster. David holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Ottawa and is a former police officer and past Executive Officer of the Canadian Police Association. David will add his considerable skill set to HR Proactive in the areas of policy development, training and risk assessment. With the passing of Bill 168, with its new requirements for employers across Ontario, David's expertise in policing and violence prevention will be an asset as we roll out our Bill 168 training products for employers.

Graham has a Bachelor of Science (Honours Chemistry) degree, is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and a Chartered Chemist (C.Chem.) with over 20 years experience in the field of environment, health and safety. Graham also has experience as an environmental consultant, as an EHS Manager, and for the last five years as a consultant specializing in risk/hazard analyses.

David's 31 years of experience in Policing, along with Graham's 20-plus years of experience in environment, health and safety, join with HR Proactive's 70 years of experience at the Ontario Human Rights Commission, the Ministry of Labour and private practice.
